Casting was installed as a follow up to Extraordinary Father at the Art Center South Florida, Miami. The site-specific, large-scale drawing of my father’s fly rod spanned a high wall and continued across the gallery’s floor. Reflections on the dark granite enhanced the drawing’s relationship to the architecture and the symbolic elevation of an ordinary object, which represents memory and relationships. A secondary reference to the past, close to the rod’s handle, was a small, painted vignette of my parents’ lanai in their retirement home.
